June went up. July came back down. That is the honest summary, and it is worth saying plainly because a lot of what gets written about gold rates pretends every move was obvious in advance. The Nagpur 22K rate climbed from Rs 13,835 per gram on 4 May to Rs 14,140 on 8 June, then gave all of that back and more through the first three weeks of July, landing at Rs 13,210 per gram on 20 July.
Londe Jewellers Gold & Diamonds has watched Vidarbha families through 37 plus years of these cycles since 1989, and more than 5,00,000 of them have sat across our counter during one. This guide gives you the full rate ladder for July 2026, the real all in cost per gram after making charges and GST, and a straight view on whether to buy now or wait.
These are metal rates per gram, before making charges and before GST. They apply across all four Londe Jewellers showrooms in Nagpur, and they are the same rate we buy back at on our exchange counter.
| Purity | Per Gram | Per 8 Grams | Per 10 Grams |
|---|---|---|---|
| 24K (995) | Rs 14,240 | Rs 1,13,920 | Rs 1,42,400 |
| 22K (916) | Rs 13,210 | Rs 1,05,680 | Rs 1,32,100 |
| 18K (750) | Rs 10,960 | Rs 87,680 | Rs 1,09,600 |

The single number that matters to a Vidarbha buyer is the 22K rate, because almost all jewellery bought in Nagpur is 22K. Here is where it has actually sat on the days we published it.
| Date | 22K Rate Per Gram | Change From Previous | Context |
|---|---|---|---|
| 19 April 2026 | Rs 15,300 | Peak | Akshaya Tritiya buying peak |
| 4 May 2026 | Rs 13,835 | Down Rs 1,465 | Post festival correction |
| 8 June 2026 | Rs 14,140 | Up Rs 305 | Vat Savitri demand, firm bullion |
| 20 July 2026 | Rs 13,210 | Down Rs 930 | Monsoon lull, soft domestic demand |
From the April peak to today the 22K rate is down Rs 2,090 per gram. On a 20 gram purchase that is a difference of Rs 41,800 in metal cost alone. That is not a small number for a family buying for a wedding, and it is the reason we are telling customers who have a genuine need in the next six months that July is a reasonable month to act.
The metal rate is never what you pay. The number on your bill is the metal rate plus the making charge plus GST. On 20 July 2026 in Nagpur that works out as follows.
| Item Type | Metal (22K) | Typical Making Per Gram | All In Per Gram With GST |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plain chain, simple bangle | Rs 13,210 | Rs 250 | about Rs 13,864 |
| Standard daily wear jewellery | Rs 13,210 | Rs 350 | about Rs 13,967 |
| Mangalsutra, patlya, designer | Rs 13,210 | Rs 450 | about Rs 14,070 |
| Heavy karigari, antique finish | Rs 13,210 | Rs 550 | about Rs 14,173 |
So the honest answer to what does gold cost per gram in Nagpur today is roughly Rs 13,850 to Rs 14,200 all in for 22K, depending entirely on how much karigar labour the design carries. Anyone quoting you a single all in number without asking what you are buying is guessing. See our full making charges breakdown for Nagpur for the design by design detail.
Raksha Bandhan falls on 28 August 2026. Ganesh Chaturthi follows on 14 September, Dhanteras on 6 November and Diwali on 8 November. That is four demand events inside eleven weeks, and in Vidarbha every one of them puts pressure on both the rate and on karigar capacity.
The practical consequence is not really about the rate. It is about lead time. A custom mangalsutra or a made to order patlya set takes our karigars two to three weeks in a normal month and longer once the festive queue builds. If you want something made rather than bought off the tray for Rakhi or for a Diwali wedding, the order needs to be placed in July, not in the week before the festival. The July rate simply makes that early order cheaper than it would have been in June.
For lighter Rakhi gifting there is a separate point worth making. Gold at Rs 13,210 per gram means a meaningful gold gift now starts lower than it did six weeks ago, and silver remains the sensible choice for wider family gifting.
If you are paying a fixed monthly instalment into a gold saving scheme, a falling rate is good news, and it is worth understanding exactly why. Your instalment is a rupee amount. The grams it converts into depend on the rate on the day you pay. At Rs 14,140 per gram in June, a Rs 10,000 instalment bought about 0.707 grams. At Rs 13,210 per gram in July, the same Rs 10,000 buys about 0.757 grams. That is 7 percent more gold for the same money, in one month.
This is the entire logic of averaging instalments across a year instead of trying to time a single large purchase. Our gold savings schemes in Nagpur page explains how the Golden Tree and Golden Locker plans handle this, including the 0 percent making charge terms.

On 20 July 2026 the gold rate in Nagpur is Rs 13,210 per gram for 22K gold, Rs 14,240 per gram for 24K gold and Rs 10,960 per gram for 18K gold. Ten grams of 22K works out to Rs 1,32,100 and ten grams of 24K to Rs 1,42,400. These are metal rates before making charges and GST.
Yes. The Nagpur 22K rate has fallen from Rs 14,140 per gram on 8 June 2026 to Rs 13,210 per gram on 20 July 2026, a drop of Rs 930 per gram or about 6.6 percent over six weeks. It is also 13.7 percent below the April 2026 Akshaya Tritiya peak of Rs 15,300 per gram.
Roughly Rs 13,850 to Rs 14,200 per gram. That is the metal rate of Rs 13,210 plus a making charge of Rs 250 to Rs 550 per gram depending on design, plus 3 percent GST on the total. Plain chains sit at the lower end, heavy karigari and antique finish at the upper end.
For anyone with a fixed need in the next six months, yes. This is the cheapest 22K gold has been in Nagpur since early May, and the festive run from Rakhi on 28 August through Dhanteras on 6 November has historically firmed rates. If you are buying for a wedding in the October to December window, the July correction is a real saving. If you are buying purely to speculate on the price, no jeweller should be advising you, and we do not.
Nagpur rates typically carry a premium of Rs 20 to Rs 55 per gram over Mumbai. That gap covers inland transport of bullion, transit insurance and local dealer margin. Nagpur is not a port city, so every gram arrives from Mumbai or Ahmedabad. The premium is structural, not a jeweller markup.
It works in your favour. Your fixed rupee instalment buys grams at the rate on the day it is paid. At Rs 13,210 per gram a Rs 10,000 instalment buys about 0.757 grams, against about 0.707 grams at the June rate. That is 7 percent more gold for the same money.
