Prices are starting points and vary with the 4Cs (cut, colour, clarity, carat) and metal. All diamonds IGI certified. All gold BIS hallmarked.

What Each Carat Band Actually Buys You

Carat is weight, not size, and the two do not scale together. A 1 ct round stone is roughly 6.5 mm across and a 0.50 ct is roughly 5.2 mm, so doubling the weight adds only about a quarter to the width you actually see on the hand. Price, meanwhile, roughly doubles at every step up, because larger rough is rarer. That gap between what you pay for and what shows is the single most useful thing to understand before choosing a band.

Centre stoneApproximate widthNatural certified price band, 18KHow it reads on the handWho chooses it in Nagpur
0.30 ctAbout 4.3 mmRs 35,000 to Rs 60,000Clearly a diamond, discreet in daily wearThe most common first engagement ring
0.50 ctAbout 5.2 mmRs 1,20,000 to Rs 1,80,000Reads as a proper solitaire across a tableThe most requested single band in our showrooms
0.70 ctAbout 5.8 mmRs 1,90,000 to Rs 2,70,000Noticeably larger without being a statementBuyers upgrading from an intended 0.50 ct
1.00 ctAbout 6.5 mmRs 3,00,000 to Rs 5,50,000Unmistakable, the classic milestone sizeMilestone and anniversary upgrades
0.50 ct with haloReads about 7 mmRs 80,000 to Rs 1,40,000Presents larger than a 1 ct solitaireBuyers who want visual size within budget

The last row is the honest value answer. A 0.50 ct centre stone ringed by small accent diamonds presents wider on the finger than a bare 1 ct solitaire, at roughly a third of the price. It is not the same stone and nobody should pretend it is, but if what matters is how the ring looks on the hand rather than the number on the certificate, the halo is the setting that does the most work per rupee.

Which of the 4Cs Actually Moves the Price

Not equally, and that is where money is saved or wasted. Cut is the one to never compromise, because it governs how much light the stone returns and a poorly cut diamond looks dull at any grade. Colour and clarity are where most buyers overspend, paying for distinctions that vanish once the stone is set and viewed at arm's length. Carat you already understand from the table above.

GradeBuy atWhyEffect on price if you go higher
CutExcellentControls brilliance. The only grade visible from across a room.Worth every rupee. Never trade this down.
ColourG to HFaces up white once set in gold. D to F costs more for a difference nobody sees on the hand.Roughly 15 to 25 percent more for each step toward D
ClarityVS1 to VS2Inclusions are invisible to the eye at this grade. VVS and IF are microscope distinctions.Roughly 20 to 40 percent more to reach VVS
CaratYour budget bandWeight, not width. Price roughly doubles at each step up.Buy just under a round number to avoid the price jump

The practical shortcut: an Excellent cut, G colour, VS2 stone will outperform a Good cut, E colour, VVS1 stone to the naked eye while costing considerably less. Bring the certificate reading guide to the counter and check the grades yourself rather than taking a verbal summary.

How to Choose the Perfect Engagement Ring

  1. Set a budget, there's no rule (the three month salary myth is outdated). Spend what feels right. A natural diamond holds its rarity and resale value over the years.
  2. Pick a centre stone size, popular: 0.30, 0.50, 0.70, 1 ct. Each step up roughly doubles the price for natural diamonds.
  3. Balance the 4Cs, for the best value for money, look for VS1 to VS2 clarity, G to H colour, Excellent cut. Read 4Cs guide.
  4. Insist on certification, every Londe Jewellers diamond is a natural mined stone carrying an IGI or GIA certificate that states its natural origin, which is what preserves its rarity and its resale value. Read why we stock natural stones only.
  5. Pick the metal, yellow gold (warm, traditional), white gold (modern, makes the diamond appear brighter, needs re rhodium every 2 to 3 years), rose gold (romantic).
  6. Choose a setting style, solitaire (classic), halo (visual size), three stone (past/present/future), vintage (filigree/milgrain), cathedral (raised setting), pavé (small accent diamonds).
  7. Get the right size, visit any Londe Jewellers Gold & Diamonds showroom for free professional sizing. Free resizing within 30 days. For surprise proposals, women's size 13 is a safe default.
  8. Verify IGI certificate, every Londe diamond comes with one. Check the laser inscribed ID on the diamond matches the certificate number.

West Nagpur, Visit Our Gokulpeth Diamond Depth Store

For couples in west Nagpur, our Gokulpeth showroom carries the deepest engagement ring selection, solitaires, halos, three stone and vintage settings, every stone a natural mined diamond carrying an IGI or GIA certificate. It is the natural diamond destination for the west catchment.

What we see across Vidarbha engagement ring enquiries in 2026. The 0.30 ct to 0.50 ct natural certified solitaire in 18K gold is by a wide margin the most requested band, and the 0.50 ct is the single most common landing point once couples have seen the stones side by side. Roughly two in three enquiries start with yellow gold and a meaningful share switch to white gold after seeing the same stone in both, because white metal makes a G to H colour stone face up brighter. Couples from the west catchment, Dharampeth, Shankar Nagar and Bajaj Nagar, ask about resale and certification earlier in the conversation than buyers elsewhere in the city, which is the main reason the Gokulpeth counter keeps loose certified stones on hand to compare rather than only finished rings.

The timing pattern is just as consistent. Enquiries cluster ahead of the wedding season rather than on impulse, and couples who come in six to eight weeks before the date get the full custom route at 3 to 5 weeks with room to resize. Those who come in during the final fortnight are choosing from finished stock. If a proposal date is fixed, the useful move is to start the conversation early and decide slowly. Ask our Gokulpeth team to lay the IGI or GIA certificate beside the stone and match the laser inscribed identification number under the loupe before you decide. That one check takes two minutes and it is the check almost nobody asks for.
