Quick answer. Choosing where to buy a natural diamond engagement ring is not a question of which showroom is largest. It comes down to five things any counter can either prove on the spot or cannot: an IGI or GIA certificate that states natural origin in words, a laser inscribed number on the stone that matches the certificate digit for digit, the 4Cs written on the invoice rather than described out loud, a resizing and buyback policy given to you in writing, and a price where the stone and the metal are billed as separate lines.
Walk into any jeweller and ask for those five. The shortlist writes itself in about ten minutes.
Use this table at the counter. Each row is something the jeweller either does in front of you or does not. There is no partial credit on any of them.

A certificate proves a diamond was graded. It does not by itself prove that this diamond is the one that was graded. The link between the two is the laser inscribed number on the girdle of the stone, which repeats the certificate number and is readable under a loupe or the counter microscope.
Ask for it directly: please show me the inscription and let me match it against the certificate. It takes about two minutes. Any counter selling genuinely certified natural stones will do it without hesitation, because it is the single cleanest thing they can demonstrate. If the answer is that the stone is too small to inscribe, that is sometimes true below roughly 0.20 carat, and in that case the certificate should be sealed with the stone rather than loose.
This one question separates jewellers faster than any amount of showroom browsing, and it costs you nothing to ask.

These are starting prices. Two stones at the same carat weight can differ substantially on cut, colour and clarity, and cut in particular is where the money either shows in the stone or does not. A well cut 0.50 ct will out sparkle a poorly cut 0.70 ct at the same price, which is why the 4Cs belong on the invoice.
Across engagement ring enquiries at our four Nagpur showrooms in 2026, the 0.30 ct to 0.50 ct natural solitaire in 18K gold is the most requested band by a clear margin. The worked example that comes up most often at the counter is the 0.50 ct: Rs 1,20,000 for the ring, Rs 3,600 GST, Rs 1,23,600 all in.
Two other patterns worth knowing before you shop. Couples in the west of the city, in Dharampeth, Shankar Nagar, Ram Nagar, Abhyankar Nagar and Bajaj Nagar, research at home first and arrive with a shortlist already decided, so the showroom visit is a confirmation rather than a discovery. And across the city, buyers who ask to see the certificate before the price ask fewer questions afterwards, because the specification settles the conversation early.
Write the answers down. A jeweller who is comfortable with all seven is a jeweller you can go back to in ten years, which matters more on an engagement ring than on anything else you will buy.
Ask what the buyback is calculated on before you buy, because the terms vary widely and are almost never volunteered. The two things to pin down are whether the buyback is on the stone as well as the metal, and what rate the metal is valued at on the day you return.
